Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the privilege of attending some of Toronto’s hottest events…for free of course! Think of it as Canada’s very own version of Gossip Girl. Glamourous, fashionable and full of (wannabe) socialites.
First, Cocktail by Design. Eleven dining settings were created by notable Canadian designers such as Sarah Richardson, Castor and KPMB. This raised funds for both the Design Exchange and Casey House. Crowd: Artist Chic.
Here are a few of the dining experiences: Sitting down for a snowy Canadian meal

Who needs to go outside, bring nature to you!
My personal favourite, luxury rose. If I had to choose a celebrity who resembles this creation, I would pick Rihanna!
Thanks to Hello Magazine Canada for the tickets. It’s still a life goal to be featured on their “events” pages. One day….
Next, the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) held at the Royal York. It was “created to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement and emerging talent in Canadian fashion design”. Awards were given for several categories such as menswear/womenswear designer, accessory, stylist, model and blogger of the year. I had the good fortune of receiving a free ticket from a friend (contest karma!). This was Canadian fashion at its finest! Notable attendees included Joe Zee, Coco Rocha, Suzanne Rogers and Jenna Bitove. Crowd: Luxury Fashion
I was thrilled to meet Elisha Cuthbert who is incredibly nice. I chose not to mention the Maple Leafs and their losing ways (she is married to captain Dion Phaneuf).
Last, but not least, Motionball! It’s an annual gala held to benefit the Special Olympics and is a highlight in Toronto’s charity event calendar. This year, over 2,500 people attended at the Liberty Grand. There were numerous bands, DJ’s, amazing appetizers for the VIP’s and even Timbits. Sportscentre anchor Jennifer Hedger, Cabbie from TSN, and Gerry Dee were the individuals I recognized. Now, I know what the hype is about! Crowd: Trendy Young Professional
An entire room full of silent auction items.
The cold winter months are almost bearable when finding fabulous events to attend in the big city. Hoping for a few more to sustain me till spring!
