Toronto is host to numerous parties every week; most people just don’t know about them! After attending 4 over the course of 7 days, with a weekend at The Hazelton Hotel between, it was an incredible stretch of winning!
It started at the Sassafraz in Yorkville. Chivas 1801 held a night full of music, by DJ Starting from Scratch, and of course whisky scotch. Notable attendees included MuchMusic VJ Liz Trinnear, relationship columnist Jen Kirsch and former NHL player Curtis Joseph.
However, I was thrilled to meet Hall of Fame retired baseball player Roberto Alomar! A true Blue Jays legend!
The following night, I ventured to the Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple for “Viva La Diva: Night at the Oscars”. This ladies-only event was held in support of the Yellow Brick House; a shelter for abused women and children. Guests were treated to appetizers, a massive dessert table and dancing! My highlight was the fireworks show; with a November birthday, I’ve never seen them before on my special day! A great event to start the last year of my 20’s!
The following week was CANFAR’s Bloor Street Entertains. This annual fundraiser supports life-saving AIDS research. A who’s who of Toronto was there including Jeanne Beker, Glen Baxter and Jenna Bitove. Guests first arrived to The ROM before departing for dinner at various locations such as Burberry, Cartier and Nespresso. Afterwards, desserts and dancing were back at the museum.
Finally, my week was complete with my free tickets to The Frockail Party held at Arcadian Court. This event began in 2009 and raises funds for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Guests can bid on designer dresses donated by notable Canadians including Rachel McAdams, Cheryl Hickey and Suzanne Rogers. I’ve attended numerous galas and parties, but this definitely had the most stylish attendees! I’m sure I looked out of place wearing flats!
Here are just a few of the fabulous dresses which were available:
With only a couple weeks left in 2013, let’s see if the contests can provide a few more gems!
